American dentists recommend Bifix SE
Luting system by VOCO ranks as one of the 2010 best products
Bifix SE, the dual-curing, self-adhesive luting system by VOCO, was tested by dentists on behalf of the American trade journal, the "Dental Product Shopper" and rated as one of the best products of 2010. Bifix SE impressed the dentists with both its material and handling properties and achieved an overall ranking of 4.3 out of a possible 5 points. Among the test criteria were handling and user-friendliness, product kit, adhesion to enamel and dentine, curing time and post-operative sensitivities. Almost all of the test dentists rated Bifix SE as "excellent" or "very good" and no negative aspects were observed. The American dentists concluded that Bifix SE offers special advantages with respect to optimal handling and the comprehensive product kit, simple and time-saving application in a maximum of only four treatment steps, the excellent and quick adhesion to enamel and dentine as well as on all restoration surfaces, including zirconium, and the minimal post-operative sensitivity.
Optimal handling and an excellent product kit
Bifix SE, according to the American dentists, has optimal handling properties and additionally permits luting of endodontic posts in the root canal with fine application attachments included in the set. The testers even praised the product components included in the set and the scope of the application possibilities. Bifix SE is suitable for multiple indications, such as definitive luting of inlays, onlays, crowns, and bridges made from ceramic, composite or metal as well as anchoring ceramic-, metal- and even glass fibre-reinforced, composite posts in the root canal. One of the test dentists remarked that "Bifix SE proved to be excellent with its product kit and user-friendliness, especially when there is more than just one crown, onlay or post treatment." Thanks to the convenient QuickMix syringe (3 x 5 mg QuickMix syringes in every set), the material is immediately ready to use and thus also eliminates mixing errors. The application is also limited to a maximum of four treatment steps and can be carried out within a few minutes. Bifix SE provides quick and stable adhesion with its minimal layer thickness (5 µm to 10 µm) and it thus facilitates efficient work.
Application in a maximum of four treatment steps
Bifix SE is dual-curing and employed in a maximum of four treatment steps: apply, attach the restoration, remove the excess and cure. The polymerisation can be accelerated and controlled through light-curing and the excess can easily be removed after only a few seconds with a scaler while the material is in the gel phase. The intraoral setting time is just four minutes when chemically cured. The American dentists especially elevated their ratings when they evaluated the high adhesion strength of Bifix SE. This applied to both adhesion to enamel and dentine as well as to materials like ceramic (35 MPa) and Zirconium (25 MPa). Furthermore, the testers established that not even one patient complained of post-operative sensitivities and Bifix SE actually has excellent biocompatibility. According to one dentist from New York, Bifix SE is an overall solid, self-adhesive, composite luting system that he recommends to other dentists for all indirect restorations as well as ceramic-covered crowns and zirconium restorations.
