The dentalist summermeeting 2009
VOCO coworkers from three continents in Bremerhaven, Germany
Almost 200 VOCO coworkers from three continents (Europe with Russia, Asia and Australia together with New Zealand) met together for the "summer meeting" at the Atlantic Hotel SailCity in Bremerhaven, Germany, on the 17th and 18th August 2009.
They gathered in Bremerhaven to learn about business and product developments, using state of the art convention technology. Simultaneous interpreters were also utilised to simultaneously translate the speakers' lectures into eight languages. "Our already high expectations as to the course and result were widely exceeded. It was not only a very successful business seminar with optimal general conditions for all participants, but it also offered the opportunity to demonstrate an impressive international orientation," concluded Olaf Sauerbier, VOCO executive director.
The summer meeting programme contained wide ranging topics. The executive director reported on the business development and successes of the past months and gave his perspective on the future goals and visions. Included was the topic of the new company slogan, which reflects a more distinctive corporate identity. As "The Dentalists", VOCO employees emphasise, more clearly than before, that their title as dental material specialists is to be recognised. The performance at the 2009 IDS in Cologne, Germany, at the end of March was certainly the beginning of this new era. VOCO presented its new corporate identity at this world leading dental trade show and many of its products were greeted with a great amount of interest.
Lectures on these product novelties thus comprised a large part of the seminar programme at the summer meeting. Included were the innovative, non-running, non-dripping application syringes especially designed for highly flowable materials that are based on non-dripping technology (NDT) and Ionolux, a light-curing restorative that combines the advantages of glass ionomer and composite.
In addition to the information that included both the theoretical aspects and sometimes very esoteric scientific details, the training also offered something for the practice, in both senses of the word. VOCO coworkers were taught about the application of the two-layer technique for Amaris, the highly aesthetic restorative, in a hands-on course. The VOCO dental consultants can thus inform dentists even better in the future about the use and advantages of this product.
The newly designed VOCO website that was introduced during the summer meeting also offers detailed product information. Informative and illustrative material on the individual products is also available for downloading here. Furthermore, VOCO employees can now receive training and exchange ideas in regularly presented webinars over the internet.
The summer meeting was partially maritime-oriented and the general programme was greeted with perfect summer weather. The guests from all over the world had the opportunity to explore the seaside town's harbour and container terminal by barge. The new, impressive ecological house and zoo belonged to the attractions visited during the conference's leisure time. The two-day event ended with a festive dinner and the presentation of the top sales consultant as well as a "dentalist night" that was especially enjoyed by dance enthusiasts.
This year's summer meeting, according to VOCO director Sauerbier, "has laid the foundation for these kinds of events with regard to content and numerical dimension. With training seminars on such a level, we can continue to guarantee the high quality of competence of the advice given by our dental consultants around the world."
