Challenging and supporting young scientists
VOCO is an international leader in the field of dentistry. With its intensive research and development work, VOCO successfully sets new standards in the development of innovative dental materials again and again. VOCO researchers actively exchange ideas with over 150 universities and international research institutes around the world. The high competence of the VOCO scientists is valued by many institutes. The company has already been in charge of several projects with dental-specific themes for the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF). Previous project partnerships have included: the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research in Würzburg, Germany, the University of Rostock (Germany) Institute for Biomedical Technology and the Hannover Medical School.
In addition to intensive cooperation with universities and research facilities, VOCO also supports the advancement of young scientists. Since 2003, the annual VOCO Dental Challenge has offered young dental scientists the opportunity to present their research and study results in a professional setting before a specialised audience. The event simultaneously permits a view of the current research status and provides an opportunity for the exchange of ideas on a high scientific level.
The winners receive attractive prize money as well as publication sponsorship for their projects. First prize is 3,000 EURO, second place prize 2,000 EURO and the third place winner is awarded 1,000 EURO. Each winner additionally receives 2,000 EURO as a publication grant.
The VOCO Dental Challenge is known in professional circles as a renowned, established research competition for the advancement and motivation of young scientists. Young scientists are allowed to make the first steps down their scientific path here in an initially small and selected circle. The VOCO Dental Challenge thus offers an excellent introduction to the professional presentation of scientific work.
